Welcome back! This week we set up digital portfolios on Behance and started color theory. Each week we are going to update pictures of what we are working on in class and share it publicly.
Week Two
All classes worked on color theory. While art 1 classes worked on color schemes, art 3 and 5 classes worked on color mixing for skin tones.
Week Three
Art 1 students finished their color schemes and moved on to posterizing their eyes. Art 3 and 5 students painted their hands. AP studio students chose their concentrations.
Week Four
Art 3 and 5 students went to the Museum of Contemporary art downtown and began work on a piece for a show on March 21 while art 1 students finished their posterized faces.
Week Five
Art 1 students moved on to practicing balance and symmetry in the art by creating a drawing using their name as a frame. Art 3 and 5 students learned about block printing.
Week Six
Art 3 and 5 students finished their block prints and Art 1 students finished their name drawings.
Week Seven
Art 1 students first learned some scratchboard techniques and then began working on the animals in preparation to going to the zoo, and Art 3 and 5 students started working on their pieces for the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Week Eight
All classes are working on their projects.
Week Nine
Art 1 students worked on their animals 6 ways project.
Week Ten
Intermediate and advanced art finished their projects for the MCASD exhibition.
Week Eleven
We went to the zoo!
Week Twelve
Art 1 students began working on proportions of the face and intermediate art students worked on watercolor.
Week Thirteen
Students finished their faces.
Week Fourteen
Fall Semester 2018
Week One
We are getting to know each other. Art 1 kids are beginning their symbolic self portraits, and Art 3 and 5 kids are working on their inspirational quote
Week Two
Students are continuing to work on their projects
Week Three
Art One students moved on to learning about line and making Zentangles. Art 3 and five students drew fruit!
Week Four
Art One students are working on grid drawing--moving past line. Art 3 and 5 students are working on art for Homecoming.
Week Five
Art 3 and 5 students are working on figure drawing and Art 1 students are working on their grid drawings.
Week Six
Art 1 students are enlarging their grid drawings and painting high contrast portraits. Art 3 and 5 students are finishing their figures, and AP Studio presented their first installments of their breadth portfolio.
Week Seven
Art 3 and 5 students are beginning 20% time and revisiting perspective. AP Studio are working on their next installment for their breadth section, and Art 1 students are learning about different shading techniques.
Week Eight
Art 1 students are finishing their shading techniques and moving on to Value exercises. Art 3 and 5 students are finishing their perspective pieces.
Week Nine
Art 3 and 5 students are beginning to paint or draw memories and Art 1 students are moving on to pet portraits.
Week Ten
Art 1 students continued working on their animals, while Art 3 and 5 students kept working on their memories, and AP Studio students diligently worked on their breadth section.
Week Eleven
Art 1 students began working on shading and slicing up forms.
Week Twelve
Art 1 students finished slicing up forms, and Art 3 and 5 students finished their memories. We also made Day of the Dead skulls for Halloween.
Week Thirteen
Art 3 and 5 students moved on to working on pieces with the theme "Wild". Art 1 students started learning about perspective and space.
Week Fourteen
Work on "Wild" landscapes continues and art 1 students started playing with their own perspective pieces.
Week Fifteen
Art 3 and 5 students finished their "Wild" pieces and art 1 students turned in their perspective work.
Week 16
Welcome back from break. This week, a distinguished panel of judges will determine which pieces will represent Valhalla at the art show at Mission Trails Visitor's Center.
Week 17 and 18
We've been working on final projects in all classes.
